Sophie Milman releases Her Very Best … So Far with Linus Entertainment

Internationally–acclaimed JUNO Award–winning jazz vocalist Sophie Milman is widely regarded as one of Canada’s best jazz singers, and Linus Entertainment is proud to announce Her Very Best … So Far, collecting memorable recordings from her award–winning studio albums. Although she was barely into her 20s when she released her self–titled 2004 debut album, it became a major hit in Canada, establishing her as a rising star and an in–demand live act.

Her 2007 sophomore album Make Someone Happy debuted at #1 on the Billboard Canadian Jazz chart, peaked at #3 on Billboard’s U.S. Jazz chart, and won a JUNO Award as Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. In 2009, Take Love Easy also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Canadian jazz chart and reached #4 in the U.S.

"Seeing audiences as near as Toronto and New York and as far as Tokyo respond equally lovingly to my work has been unbelievable. With every album, I’ve grown as a human being, as a woman and as an artist," said Milman on the international response that has garnished sales in excess of 100,000 units leading to performances at such prestigious venues as the Hollywood Bowl, the Kennedy Center, the Montréal Jazz Festival, Toronto’s Massey Hall and the legendary Blue Note club in New York and Japan.
Her Very Best … So Far will be released digitally next week on May 7 and on CD on May 21.

From childhood favourites ("Matchmaker, Matchmaker" and "La Vie En Rose") to songs that demand more maturity ("Eli, Eli" and "So Sorry") to joyous, self–affirming numbers ("I Concentrate On You" and "No More Blues"), Her Very Best … So Far is truly reflective of the challenges and triumphs of Milman's celebrated career.

"It’s a wonderful snapshot of what I’ve done to date. It’s a reflection of everywhere I’ve lived, everywhere this career has taken me, my joys, my sorrows, my losses, my conquests, the amazing musicians I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and, of course, my inner world and my ever–evolving artistic voice."
