Michael Kaeshammer brings together an All Star guest list on "Something New"

Internationally acclaimed musician Michael Kaeshammer has toured the world showcasing his talents as a singer, songwriter, pianist & producer. A spellbinding artist, Kaeshammer’s performances and recordings are intimate and inviting affairs, whether in a small club, large theatre or on home stereo. Kaeshammer is back with his highly anticipating 12th recording, and his first for esteemed label Linus Entertainment, aptly titled Something New.

Following closely on the heels of Kaeshammer’s critically acclaimed 2016 release No Filter, a recording that garnered him a Western Canadian Music Award, two Maple Blues Award nominations and a JUNO Award nomination, his new album Something New is a new musical adventure.
Produced by Michael himself it features 10 original songs about love, life, travel and politics. Recorded at the historic Esplanade Studios in the heart of New Orleans’ Treme district, Kaeshammer along with Big Easy legends Cyril Neville (The Neville Brothers), George Porter Jr (The Meters), Johnny Vidacovich (Professor Longhair), Mike Dillon (Primus), the New Orleans Nightcrawlers Brass Band and Canadian bassist David Piltch (kd lang) create an eclectic sonic ride. Very special guests include Colin James, Randy Bachman, Curtis Salgado, Jim Byrnes, Amos Garrett and Chuck Leavell of The Rolling Stones.

No stranger to awards and recognition, throughout his 20 year career Kaeshammer has been nominated for seven JUNO Awards, five Western Canadian Music Awards (winning four times) and a multitude of others. In October of 2017, he completed his seventh tour of the People’s Republic of China, with performances held in some cities where his was the first jazz concert held in the area. This is not an easy task as many Western musicians have a hard time booking performances in the People’s Republic of China, yet Kaeshammer’s concerts sell out year after year with the audiences and venues getting bigger each time.

It is easy to distinguish great music upon first listen, regardless of genre labels and titles. Kaeshammer’s passion for writing, performing and producing exceptional music is abundantly clear. Flavours of jazz, boogie-woogie and blues combined with passion and meticulous detail, Michael Kaeshammer is unafraid of crossing genre boundaries and uses his many influences to take the listener along on a memorable journey.
